Check out some myths about your period
1. If you have your period, you are not allowed to play sports.
Maybe you don’t feel like it when you’re on your period and just want to hang out on the couch, but there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to exercise during your period. It’s even said that exercise helps against menstrual cramps. Or is this another myth? 😉 .
If you want to know more about working out during your period you can read this article, written by Alex Polish. Here they talk about everything you need to know about working out during your period.
2. Don’t go swimming when menstruating.
There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to swim when you have your period. As long as you use the right protection, no one needs to know that it’s “that time of the month” for you. Beppy has been specially developed to provide you with the right, invisible care at special times such as when you are swimming.
3. You can’t have sex during ‘those days of the month’.
Without the right precautions, it may become a bit of a mess, but even if you have your period, you can still have sex. By the way, did you know that when you use a Beppy, not only do you avoid dirty sheets, but your bed partner doesn’t notice that you have it in either?
4. You have your period exactly every 28 days.
A menstrual cycle not only differs from woman to woman, but also every month that it is different. It is therefore normal if you do not have your period exactly every 28 days, this can vary from month to month.
5. Young girls are not allowed to use tampons.
There are myths that by using tampons you can lose your virginity and that young girls therefore cannot use tampons. The only way to lose your virginity is to have sex. Young girls can also use tampons.
6. You lose gallons of blood during every menstruation.
It may look like you’re losing gallons of blood, but in reality it’s only around 60 ml during each period. A woman has around 4 litres of blood in her body, so those few tablespoons you lose don’t matter much to your body.
7. PMS doesn’t really exist and is between your ears.
It is often laughed at and many people say it doesn’t exist, but PMS is a real condition. Before your period, the level of hormones in your body increases, which can cause symptoms such as a bad mood. By the way, did you know that as many as 85% of women in one form or another suffer from PMS complaints?!
8. If you have your period, it’s better not to wash your hair.
Especially when you have your period it is nice to take a hot shower to feel clean and relax. You can also just wash your hair while showering. This fable dates back to early times, but it’s not true, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t wash your hair.
9. It is better to avoid certain types of food during your period.
It is sometimes claimed that it is better not to drink cold drinks (because you can catch a cold more quickly) and to eat certain types of food, such as fried food. None of this is true and you can just eat and drink whatever you want. So you don’t have to leave a nice evening on the couch with a cup of ice cream. Of course, just like on other days, healthy food is important.
10. You can’t get pregnant if you menstruate.
It’s less likely, but make sure you can get pregnant even if you have your period. Your ovulation cycles are unpredictable, so you don’t know when exactly one egg will be released from your fallopian tube. Therefore, if you don’t want to get pregnant, also use contraceptives when you menstruate.
